Frequently Asked Questions

Is a celebrant led wedding ceremony legally binding?

This is the question I get asked most often! In short - no. The law in England and Wales currently states that a celebrant led wedding is not legally recognised, meaning that couples who opt to have their ceremony conducted by a celebrant must take care of the legal ceremony, usually at a registry office either before or after the celebrant led wedding day blessing. Many couples treat this like an appointment, which is essentially what it is. With 2 witnesses present, you repeat the basic legally required vows and you sign and register your marriage in a similar way that you would register a birth, or a death for example. Some make a little more of this and dress up for the occasion, but as there is no legal requirement to exchange your personal vows, nor your rings, you can always save these for your celebrant-led service. Regardless of when you plan to complete the legal paperwork, you are free to celebrate your marriage or civil partnership anywhere and in any way you like.

Can we include rituals in the wedding ceremony?

Yes - I am experienced in handfasting, sand blending, unity candles, wine ceremonies and many more! The list is literally endless, and I love chatting about new ideas and options for a ceremony! Nothing is off limits.

What is your booking process?

For most ceremonies, I will request an initial deposit to secure your date and then the fun begins! We will meet via video call or in person to chat through what you want and to get to know one another and I will send questionnaires for completion before the big day. I then send a ceremony outline for your approval before writing the final script.

For funeral services you can contact me directly or we can work together via your Funeral Director - when working through a Funeral Director, a deposit is not required, and my fee is generally included in your bill from them.

What are your prices?

For a fully bespoke wedding or vow renewal ceremony, the price is set at £650 until 2026. I also offer an Essentials Package, exclusively available for mid week weddings for £300. Naming days are £450. Funeral services are £220. As far as possible these prices are fully inclusive - no extras for travel etc are added on - but occasionally if what you are wanting falls outside what I include there may be added fees - but these would all be discussed and confirmed before you pay a deposit.
