File #16 - Little Guest, Big Opinions

There are some things you can plan for in a ceremony. The music, the readings, the vows, the rings.

And then there are the things you can’t plan for so much.

At this wedding, one of the smallest guests was a little girl of around a year old, who had her own contributions to make throughout the ceremony.

Not words, exactly. More little noises and baby babble. But somehow, the timing was just brilliant.

Every time she piped up, it felt as though she'd picked the perfect moment to join in. Completely unplanned, completely unintentional, and all the funnier for it.

Of course, she had absolutely no idea what was going on. She was just being a baby. But that was rather the point.

Sometimes the moments you remember most aren't the ones you've carefully written into a ceremony. They're the little, unexpected things that happen along the way – the things nobody could have rehearsed, even if they'd tried.

And sometimes, the smallest guest has a part to play after all.

“A person’s a person, no matter how small.”
